The Golden Pavilion Japan

Oh, hello there! Welcome to my latest blog post - I am so excited to share my latest travel experience with you. This time, I visited a little gem located in Kyoto, Japan: The Golden Pavilion. Kinkakuji Temple.

Let me tell you, it was truly stunning. This place is not to be missed, and I can't wait to share all the details with you, so you can live vicariously through me!

Now, before we get started, I need to mention that this temple is also known as the Rokuon-ji Temple. But honestly, all you need to know is that it's a golden paradise.

Let's dive into the history of this temple, shall we? The Golden Pavilion was originally built as a villa for the 3rd shogun of the Ashikaga dynasty in the late 14th century, but later turned into a Zen Buddhism temple after his death. Throughout the years, it endured fires, war, and even a lightning strike, but luckily it was reconstructed and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Can you imagine experiencing all of that?! It makes my sunburn from my last beach vacation seem trivial.

Now onto some travel tips! If you're planning a trip to Kinkakuji Temple, make sure to wear your walking shoes. There's a lot of ground to cover, but hey, all that walking will make you feel a little better about indulging in all the delicious matcha treats later on!

Also, try to go on a clear day if you can. Seeing the golden temple glistening in the sun is truly a sight to behold.

And speaking of matcha treats, you won't regret trying some of the delicious snacks they have available at the temple. I highly recommend the matcha soft serve ice cream - it helped me power through the rest of my temple visit.

As you wander around the temple, make sure to take in all the gorgeous scenery around you. The gardens are just as breathtaking as the temple itself. And keep your eyes peeled for the turtles and koi fish swimming around. They're too cute!

While you're there, don't forget to pick up a souvenir or two from the temple's gift shop. There are plenty of unique items to choose from - I couldn't resist buying a beautiful postcard to send to my friends back home.

All in all, my trip to the Golden Pavilion. Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto, Japan was absolutely unforgettable. I highly recommend adding it to your travel bucket list.

Well, that's all for now! I hope you enjoyed my funny take on my trip to this beautiful temple. Until next time, happy travels!
